Treatment of scalp

The condition of the scalp is largely determined by the work of the sebaceous glands, which in turn depends on the normal functioning of the whole organism as a whole. If there are any abnormalities in the functioning of the internal organs - the stomach, the heart, the thyroid gland, the central nervous system, associated with stress, malnutrition or other factors, then there are head skin conditions, most often manifested in the form of itching, dandruff and loss of hair. Also, allergies to food, unfavorable factors of the natural environment (heat, cold, pollen of plants), improperly selected cosmetics can lead to skin problems. In all cases, in order to correctly determine the diagnosis and the appointment of a course of treatment for the scalp, it is necessary to consult a trichologist or, in his absence, a dermatologist.

The most common diseases of the scalp are seborrhea, seborrheic dermatitis, ichthyosis and psoriasis.

Seborrhea occurs with an increase in the function of sebaceous gland secretion and changes in the chemical composition of sebum. As a result, the skin becomes greasy, and the hair becomes sticky and shiny. Then there is a blockage of the excretory ducts of the sebaceous glands, the formation of dandruff and hair loss.

An important moment in the treatment of seborrhea is the mandatory detection and treatment of concomitant diseases - the nervous and endocrine systems, the gastrointestinal tract. In this case, calming herbs of herbs (valerian, motherwort), iodine preparations, multivitamin complexes, special diet are prescribed. To normalize the sebum separation on the scalp, apply solutions of borax, soda, sodium thiosulfate. In the presence of purulent follicles, wipe with alcohol solutions with antiseptics. Also used are artificial UV irradiation, sunbathing and water procedures.

With seborrheic dermatitis, eczema occurs, accompanied by severe itching. Treatment consists in the use of special antifungal shampoos based on ketonazole and local steroid preparations in the form of lotions or mousses.

With ichthyosis, the skin becomes dry, flaky, fat loss and sweating decrease, the structure of the hair changes and hard crusts form on the skin. In psoriasis, the peeling process covers large areas of the scalp, and the resulting crusts become thicker and thicker. The most effective in these cases is to use medical creams based on olive oil and cocoas - a special remedy consisting of tar, coconut oil and salicylic acid. It is applied to the hair before going to bed and left overnight, avoiding getting on clothes and bedding.

Universal recommendations that must be adhered to for the effective treatment of scalp are as follows:

1. Normalize the regime and quality of food , avoid stress.

2. Apply special medicinal cosmetics.

3. Regularly, with a frequency of 1 time per month, perform peeling of the scalp and deep cleansing of the hair, using special shampoos and a sparing body scrub with miniature abrasive particles. At the same time, it is necessary to massage the skin very gently in order to best remove the keratinized particles from its surface.

4. Rinse hair with infusions of medicinal herbs (for example, chamomile , nettle , oak bark) that nourish and moisturize the scalp.

5. Use massage as a means to improve blood circulation and normalize the work of the sebaceous glands.
