On the human body, there are many kinds of moles. They differ both in color and in size. With small dimensions (up to 5 mm) and a stable color, they should not cause you any special concern. But if they increase in size and change color, then there is a risk of developing melanoma and there is reason to seek advice from an oncologist.
The following kinds of moles with age can change their color and size, but at the same time do not cause any harm:
1. Hemangiomas - vascular formations on the skin both in the form of nodules (hanging moles), and in the form of flat red or pink spots.
2. Flat birthmarks - pigment spots, formed in the upper layers of the skin under the influence of melanocytes. The color is slightly darker than freckles and under the influence of sunlight does not darken and do not grow anymore.
3. Convex birthmarks - are formed by melanocytes in the deeper layers of the skin. In diameter, they can reach up to 1 cm and have a surface in the form of a tubercle.
4. Blue birthmarks - can be blue, blue and even brown. They mostly rise above the surface of the skin, dense, smooth and without hair. They can be up to 2 cm in diameter and are mainly located in the face, limbs and buttocks.
5. Pigmented giant moles - have an innate character and increase with the growth and development of man. Color is different - from gray and brown to black. They can occupy large areas of the body and have a flat surface.
